Dr. Rubina Husain, with over 25 years of pioneering contributions in Bangladesh’s hospitality and training sectors, holds a pivotal role as the Managing Director of the Institute of Hotel Management & Hospitality Limited. Her PhD from the University of California, focusing on Competency-Based Training in Bangladesh’s hospitality sector, underpins her expertise in developing units of competencies for hotel staff. As a seasoned Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBT&A) specialist, she was instrumental in introducing this delivery system in Bangladesh, supported by ILO Dhaka with BTEB. Dr. Husain has significantly impacted policy reform and skills training as the Secretary-General of the Industry Skills Council for Tourism and Hospitality, leading sector reforms and policy. Her leadership roles extend to Sr. Vice-President of the SIYB Foundation of Bangladesh and active involvement in women’s empowerment through Zonta International and the Women Entrepreneurs Association (WEA) for over two decades. Dr. Husain’s commitment to education, women’s empowerment, and industry skills development has marked her as a distinguished figure in Bangladesh’s professional landscape.
