About the startup
Matir Pran
Matir Pran was founded to solve a critical challenge for farmers in Bangladesh: traditional soil tests take weeks and cost more than most can afford, leaving them without timely insights. To change this, three Dhaka Polytechnic Institute alumni Abdullah Al Araf, Rahat Uddin, and Rezaul Khan developed a portable, IoT-enabled soil testing device that delivers real-time results in the field. What began as a self-funded prototype quickly gained recognition, winning second place at the BASIS National ICT Award and being showcased internationally. With support from the ICT Division, IDEB’s IoT Lab, and accelerator programs like the SDG Impact Accelerator and Climate Innovation Challenge, Matir Pran has grown into a farmer-first platform that integrates hardware, a Bangla-language mobile app, and cloud-based advisory services. Today, it empowers farmers with instant soil insights, crop recommendations, and direct access to agricultural officers bridging the gap between technology and grassroots farming. Funding Requirement (Next 18 Months) We are seeking BDT 19 Lacs to scale production, enhance R&D, expand farmer outreach, and strengthen our team. This investment will position Matir Pran as Bangladesh’s go-to soil intelligence platform, with a roadmap to expand into other emerging markets.
